Business Ethics & Social Responsibility

Ethics is very important in the business world and also in other careers as well. People should know right from wrong, which is what ethics is usually defined as but in the business world ethics is more than that. People in business need to be honest and fair and not put their own interests above their company. Even though ethics should be common sense, there is a history of people acting very unethically in the business world.

Companies are socially responsible towards their stakeholders. There are any responsibilites towards employees of a company. Companies need to keep their workers safe so their heath isn’t endangered. Also they need to make sure there is no sexual harrassement or discrimination of any kind taking place. Employees deserve equal opportunies, pay, wages, and benefits.

Many people may assume they are ethical yet when faced with certain issues, sometimes people may not think ethically. That is why people should think before they act. If they have any doubts or questions what the consquences could it,most likely it’s the unethical thing to do.

One Response to Business Ethics & Social Responsibility

  1. “Ordinary people, even weak people, can do extraordinary things through temporary courage generated by a situation. But the person of character does not need the situation to generate his courage. It is a part of his being and a standard approach to all life’s challenges. We’re all ethical in our own eyes. Although we are usually judged by our last worst act, we usually judge ourselves by our most noble deeds, our best intentions and our most virtuous traits. Character is not a fancy coat we put on for show, it’s who we really are. – Michael Josephson
